New Collection Guide for the Scott Green Collection of Speculative Fiction Now Available

The Special Collections Research Center is pleased to announce that the newly updated collection guide for the Scott Green Collection of Speculative Fiction is now available online. This collection includes over seventeen hundred publications published serially from 1929 to 2007.
The Scott Green Collection of Speculative Fiction contains magazines, fanzines, review publications, newsletters, and other publications comprising or related to speculative fiction, especially science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Some of the magazine titles include Avon Fantasy Reader, Dreams and Nightmares, Famous Fantastic Mysteries, Infinity Science Fiction, and Science Fiction Review.
The magazines include short stories, novelettes, and novellas published in multiple parts. This collection includes the first issues of publications like A. Merritt’s Fantasy Magazine, for which we have four out of the five issues published, Infinity Science Fiction, and Science Fiction Review. The first issue of Infinity Science Fiction, pictured below, includes Arthur C. Clarke’s, “The Star”, which won the Hugo Award in 1955.
Many professional authors are well represented in this collection, including Isaac Asimov, H. P. Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury, Evelyn E. Smith, and Arthur C. Clarke, among others. Also included in this collection is H. G. Wells's The Time Machine in its entirety (Famous Fantastic Mysteries, Vol. 11, No. 6), and Isaac Asimov's story S as in Zebatinsky, considered by some to be Asimov's finest intellectual effort (Star Science Fiction).
A few of the publications are in different languages. Estacosa, pictured below, is one of several publications in Spanish. Other languages include Czech (IKARIE), French (Weird), Portuguese (Somnium), and Romanian (Anticipatia).
Other science fiction collections available for research at Special Collections include the Michael Lea Collection of Science Fiction Magazines (MC 00673) and the John Kessel Collection of Science Fiction Magazines (MC 00670). The Douglas Ward American Comic Books Collection (RBC 00002) and the Scott Green Collection of Comics-Related Publications (RBC 00008) are two other fiction collections that include works of science fiction.
